Kenneth G. Saag, MD, MSc earned his medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, and his Master of Science Degree with an emphasis in epidemiology, from the University of Iowa, Department of Preventive Medicine and Environmental Health (Iowa City, Iowa). Dr. Saag is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), as well as a rheumatologist and outcomes researcher at the same institution. His main areas of interest include rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and pharmacoepidemiology.

Dr. Saag is currently the Director of the Center for Education and Research on Therapeutics (CERTs) of Musculoskeletal Disorders at UAB. He is a Member of the Southern Society for Clinical Investigation, Chair of the Osteoporosis Abstract Selection Committee, American College of Rheumatology (ACR), and Associate Director of the UAB Center for Metabolic Bone Disease (CMBD) National Institutes of Health (NIH) T32 Institutional Training Grant entitled, "Comprehensive Training Grant in Bone Biology and Disease". Dr. Saag serves on numerous editorial boards including serving as Osteoporosis Section Editor with Current Rheumatology Reports and Outcomes Section Associate Editor with Arthritis, Research & Therapy.
