Kenneth E. Sherman received his BS & Ph.D. (Microbiology) from Rutgers University and his MD from George Washington University. Currently, he holds an endowed chair as the Gould Professor of Medicine and serves as the Director of the Division of Digestive Diseases at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Sherman’s research interests center around viral hepatitis and the pathogenesis, evaluation, and treatment of liver disease in those with HIV infection. He is an NIH-funded researcher and holds several patents.

Dr. Sherman is the author of over 250 articles, abstracts, and book chapters on viral hepatitis and other areas of liver disease. He has held numerous leadership positions in the field and is currently the Vice-Chair of the Liver/Biliary Section of the American Gastroenterological Society and a past member of the AASLD/IDSA/IAS-USA HCV Guidelines Committee.
