Kelly Koeller, M.D., F.A.C.R. earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Tennessee College of Medicine as a Health Professions Scholar supported by the United States Navy. Following completion of an internship at Naval Hospital San Diego, he served as a Naval Flight Surgeon for the Third Marine Aircraft Wing in California. He returned to San Diego for residency training in Diagnostic Radiology and then pursued a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University of California at San Francisco.

Following a return to Naval Hospital San Diego as a staff neuroradiologist, he was selected as the Chief of Neuroradiology at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC in 1996 and subsequently was appointed the Chairman and Registrar of the Department of Radiologic Pathology in 2001. He earned fellowship in the American College of Radiology in 2005. After 23 years of service, he retired from the Navy in 2005 and moved to Rochester, Minnesota to join the Neuroradiology division of the Department of Radiology at the Mayo Clinic, where he remains today.

Dr. Koeller’s interests include all types of neoplasms affecting the central nervous system and head and neck, particularly in the setting of radiologic-pathologic correlation. He has contributed over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts, numerous book chapters, and edited 4 installments of the Syllabus for the AFIP Radiologic-Pathologic Correlation Course. He has delivered nearly 400 invited lectures focused on neuroradiological imaging manifestations and their correlation with gross and histopathologic findings at educational and scientific symposia world-wide.
