Keth Chapple is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. He has a specialist interest in laparoscopic (‘keyhole’) surgery, pelvic floor disorders (such as constipation and faecal incontinence) and new treatments for benign problems such as haemorrhoids.

He trained in Sheffield, Leeds and Australia and completed his PhD thesis on the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (such as aspirin) in preventing colorectal cancer. His current research interest centres on the role of dietary fibre in preventing colonic adenomas.

He is a member of the Court of Examiners of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, director of the Sheffield Anorectal Ultrasound course and has published widely on all aspects of colorectal disease
