Dr. Moscat is a Cancer Biologist with expertise in the cellular and molecular mechanisms that control the initiation and progression of tumors. His laboratory focuses on liver and colorectal cancer and has made impactful contributions to understanding the metabolic and immunological landscape of these tumors and their response to immunotherapy. His research focuses on identifying non-oncogenic vulnerabilities in cancer, with a particular interest in the interface between inflammation and metabolism (https://www.moscatdiazmecolab.org). Dr. Moscat regularly publishes high-impact studies and has served in numerous scientific and leadership positions, including being an elected member of the prestigious European Molecular Biology Organization.

Dr. Moscat presently is the Homer T. Hirst III Professor of Oncology in Pathology and Vice-Chair for Experimental Pathology at the Weill Cornell Medical College. Before joining Cornell, Dr. Moscat served in several leadership positions at the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute in La Jolla (California), including Deputy Director of the Cancer Center and the Institute’s Director of Metabolism Initiatives. Before that, Dr. Moscat was a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Cancer and Cell Biology and Associate Director of the Cincinnati Cancer Consortium at the University of Cincinnati Medical College. He also served in several positions at the National Research Council of Spain, in which he was a Professor and Director of the Institute for Molecular Biology.
