Jorge Alvaro Gonzalez-martinez MD, PhD

Dr. Gonzalez-Martinez has been selected to receive the CNS Cushing Clinical Fellowship. He completed medical school in Sao Paulo, Brazil and went on to complete neurosurgical training at Sao Paulo and subsequently receive a Ph.D. in neurophysiology from the University of Sao Paulo Medical School. He then did a Fellowship in Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Neuro-Oncology at Wayne State University. Next he moved to Cleveland, where he is currently a neurosurgical resident.

During his training at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr Gonzalez-Martinez has completed fellowships in both Functional Neurosurgery and Epilepsy Surgery. Dr. Gonzalez-Martinez has published over twenty articles in neurosurgery peer reviewed journals, as well as authored four book chapters. He plans to continue his study in the field of epilepsy with the Cushing Fellowship. Dr. Gonzalez-Martinez will train with Dr Alim-Louis Benabid in Grenoble, France, and Dr Giorgio LoRusso in Milan, Italy to learn the method of invasive seizure monitoring with stereo-electroencephalogram.
