Dr. Jonathan Kruskal is an Associate Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School, and Vice Chair of Radiology for Quality at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, MA. Dr. Kruskal received his medical training at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, a Ph.D. in Liver Tumor Physiology (specifically D-Dimer kinetics) from the South African Liver Research Center, and came to the USA as a post-Doctoral Fellow at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1987. Dr. Kruskal has more than 130 peer-reviewed publications. His current research interests are in developing molecular imaging techniques for characterizing angiogenesis in liver tumors. Dr. Kruskal has received a number of research and teaching awards including Teacher of the year (x2) and Resident Appreciation Awards from the Radiology residents at BIDMC; The Radiological Society of North America Scholar Award in 1998; Bernard Pimstone Award for Best Young Laboratory Investigator, Faculty of Medicine, University of Cape Town; The J. Bronte-Stewart Research Prize: Best Postgraduate Thesis submitted to the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cape Town; International Traveling Professorship, the American Society of GI Radiologists; 1999 and 2000: Roscoe Millar Awards for best scientific papers at the annual meetings of the Society of GI Radiologists; Honorary lecturer, European Society of GI Radiologists (2003); and Philip Meyers Research Award from the Society of GI Radiologists for visionary research in medical imaging.
