John Henderson MD, ChB, FRCP

John Henderson is Professor of Paediatric Respiratory Medicine at the University of Bristol and Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, UK. He graduated from the University of Manchester and after training in paediatrics, he was a research fellow in Bristol, UK and Perth, Western Australia. He was awarded his MD by the University of Manchester in 1991. He returned to complete his training in paediatric respiratory and critical care medicine and was appointed as a consultant in paediatric respiratory medicine in 1993.

John’s main research interests are in the epidemiology of asthma and respiratory health in early life. He joined the Avon Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children in 1995. He is now Co-Director of ALSPAC and leads the respiratory and allergy programme. He has published over 150 papers and co-edited the Respiratory Disorders chapter in Forfar & Arneil’s Textbook of Pediatrics. He was formerly Deputy Editor of Archives of Disease of Childhood.
