John H.v. GilbertCM, PhD, LLD (Hon), FCAHS
Dr. John Gilbert has been an influential leader in health profession education in British Columbia, Canada and internationally. Currently, he is the founding Principal and Professor Emeritus of the College of Health Disciplines at the University of British Columbia. Dr. Gilbert founded the Canadian Interprofessional Health Collaborative (CIHC) and currently serves as the Co-Chair.
He pioneered psychology and linguistics as the foundation of practice for speech-language pathologists and audiologists in the early part of his career. His vision and leadership led to the concept of interprofessional education being developed as a central pillar of collaborative, team-based, patient-centred practice and care. Dr. Gilbert’s concepts are now part of university, college, and institute health sciences trainings globally.
