John David Lubahn MD, FACS

John Lubahn MD completed his undergraduate in medical school education at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland Ohio. Following medical school, he entered a two-year Residency in General Surgery at the University of Rochester under the Chairmanship of Charles Rob followed immediately thereafter by a 3-year residency in orthopedics also at the University of Rochester under C. McCollister Evarts also in Rochester New York. His final year of training was in Hand and Microsurgery with Harold Kleinert and Associates in Louisville during which time he was fortunate enough to spend one month in Hamburgh Germany with Dieter Buck-Gramco studying Pediatric Hand Surgery.

He began practice in Erie Pa. at Hamot Medical Center in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. He eventually became Department Chairman and served in that position for over twenty years retiring in 2019. He still serves as program director for the Hand Fellowship, a position he has held for the last 15 years. He has written articles and book chapters on numerous subjects ranging from an extensor tendon injury to fracture treatment and reconstruction. Dupuytren's disease has always been a major interest of Dr. Lubahn since his fellowship year. Articles are written have covered the basic science of Dupuytren's disease and the effect of nerve growth factors on disease development as well as the search for Relaxin receptors in biopsy specimens from patients with Dupuytren’s disease.
