Dr. Jessie Hulst is a staff pediatrician in the Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition. She completed her Pediatric residency and Pediatric GHN fellowship in the Netherlands. From 2011 until June 2018, she was a Staff physician in Erasmus Medical Center, Sophia Children’s Hospital, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, before her transition to Sickkids. Her clinical interest has been focused on nutritional and feeding problems, and nutritional assessment in various patient groups and diseases, and she was involved in the multidisciplinary teams caring for these patient groups.
Dr. Hulst obtained a Ph.D. on the topic of nutritional assessment in critically ill infants and children (completed in 2004) and has been involved in both national and international research about this topic afterward. Furthermore, she was involved in several national and international working groups related to pediatric nutrition, e.g. member of the Committee of Nutrition of ESPGHAN, chair of the ESPGHAN working group on Clinical malnutrition, chair of the pediatric section of the Dutch Malnutrition task force, and member of the committee on Nutrition of the Dutch pediatric association. Through these committees and working groups, she was evolved as faculty in multiple educational events about pediatric nutrition over the last 7 years. She currently is a member of the Pediatric working group of the Canadian Malnutrition Task Force and will be chairing the Nutritional Advisory Committee of SickKids.
