Dr. Jessica Kendrick, Program Director, is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and completed her internal medicine residency and renal fellowship at the University of Colorado Denver. She joined the University of Colorado Faculty in 2010. Dr. Kendrick is a clinical researcher interested in traditional and nontraditional cardiovascular risk factors in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Since the most common cause of mortality in CKD is cardiovascular, her work elucidating the mechanisms and interventions which alter the abnormality in vascular biology will go a long way in decreasing the mortality of CKD.

In addition to developing a number of non-invasive techniques to determine the relationship between vascular dysfunction and mortality, Dr. Kendrick is testing the effect of numerous therapies (such as vitamin D and bicarbonate) on vascular function in several clinical trials in patients with CKD. She completed a Master of Public Health Degree in 2014.

Dr. Kendrick became the Associate Program Director of the Renal Fellowship in 2012 and the Program director in 2017. As an educator, Dr. Kendrick uniformly receives top 5% reviews while attending internal medicine and nephrology. She is sought out by house staff, chief residents, and conference organizers to speak locally and regionally. In her primary clinical responsibilities at the University of Colorado Hospital, she is recognized as a top physician and is sought out by patients, families, and staff to be involved in clinical care.
