Dr. Jessica (Jessi) Gold, MD, MS, is an American psychiatrist, author, and mental health advocate specializing in workplace mental health, physician well-being, and student mental health. She serves as the Chief Wellness Officer for the University of Tennessee System and as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she leads system-wide initiatives to improve mental health and well-being among students, faculty, and staff. Dr. Gold is nationally recognized for her work addressing burnout, mental health stigma, and wellness among healthcare workers and academic communities. In her clinical practice, she focuses on outpatient psychiatric care for individuals in high-stress professions, including healthcare workers and college students.
Beyond clinical care and academic leadership, Dr. Gold is an influential public voice on mental health. She is a sought-after speaker and media contributor whose writing has appeared in major outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, InStyle, SELF, and Forbes. Her work aims to make mental health discussions more accessible and reduce stigma through storytelling, advocacy, and public education. Dr. Gold earned both her B.A. and M.S. in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, received her M.D. from Yale School of Medicine, and completed her residency in adult psychiatry at Stanford University, where she served as chief resident.
