Dr. Jerome Waye is a Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He has been at Mount Sinai for his entire medical career following graduation cum laude from Boston University School of Medicine which he attended after graduating from MIT. Dr. Waye has developed techniques of colonoscopy that are used throughout the world and has been acclaimed at the international meeting as one of the world’s best endoscopists.

He has authored over 200 articles in medical journals and has received several accolades both nationally and internationally. He was president of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and president of the American College of Gastroenterology, and recently was president of the World Endoscopy Organization. He has received the highest alumni award of the Mount Sinai Medical Center, the “Golden Cane Award”, and has this year received the faculty “Lifetime Achievement Award.” He is Director of the Center for Advanced Colonoscopy and Polypectomy at Mount Sinai.

Dr. Waye’s expertise is in the removal of large colon polyps and also the evaluation of patients who have been informed that they need to have a part of their colon removed. Using the most modern equipment and techniques, his expertise is in taking out difficult colon polyps that other gastroenterologists and surgeons have sent when they could not accomplish safe colonoscopic polypectomy.
