Biography :

Dr. DeBerry’s research uses a multi-pronged approach to understand mechanisms of pathological sensory changes in the urological system, with the goal of helping improve bladder pain and dysfunction. Her primary interest is in how distinct anatomical and neurochemical subpopulations of sensory neurons and their central connections contribute to different aspects of bladder sensation. Animal models of inflammation and diabetic or chemotherapy-induced neuropathy allow her to examine how sensory processing changes as a consequence of neuronal injury or remodeling, leading to pain, loss of sensation, or altered organ function.
