Jennifer Ann Brainard, MD, is a Staff Pathologist in the Department of Anatomic Pathology at Cleveland Clinic's main campus. Except for the fellowship in surgical pathology and cytopathology she completed at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, Dr. Brainard has spent her entire medical career in the Cleveland Clinic Department of Anatomic Pathology. After completing her residency as chief resident, Dr. Brainard went on staff first as a clinical associate staff pathologist, then as an associate pathologist in this department. She is board-certified in cytopathology as well as anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

Dr. Brainard's specialty interests include cytopathology, gynecologic pathology, and needle aspiration. She received her medical degree at the Ohio State University College of Medicine before beginning her career at Cleveland Clinic as a resident in anatomic and clinical pathology. She is licensed to practice medicine in Ohio.

Dr. Brainard has published numerous scientific journal articles and abstracts, lectured, and participated in scientific platform presentations and faculty workshops. She is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, both the Virginia and Ohio Societies of Pathology and the American Society of Cytopathology, among others. She is the recipient of the George C. Hoffman Award and the John Beach Hazard Distinguished Teacher Award from Cleveland Clinic’s Division of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. She is a diplomate of anatomic and clinical pathology, as well as the subspecialty of the cytopathology of the American Board of Pathology.
