Jeffrey T. Irelan BS, PhD

Dr. Jeff Irelan is a cell biologist with over 20 years’ experience in drug discovery and cell-based assay technologies. As Director of Scientific Applications at Organovo, Jeff interfaces with clients in pharma and biotech as well as Organovo’s R&D team to implement and expand the company’s portfolio of service offerings utilizing 3D bioprinted human tissue models.
Prior to joining Organovo, Jeff directed the technical application support group at ACEA Biosciences and assisted in the commercialization of their cell-based assay technologies. During his post-doctoral fellowship, Jeff specialized in using cell-based phenotypic screening assays for drug discovery at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation. Jeff holds a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Oregon and a B.S. in biology from the University of Iowa.
