Jeff Calaway runs Cook Children’s Health Care System’s Checkup Daily Newsroom. He uses his background as a journalist to make sure the newsroom contains the latest in pediatric health care news. He makes up for a small staff by working with a multitude of contributors from across the system, including pediatricians, specialists, child psychologists, Child Life specialists, injury prevention experts … if they are an expert on a topic, he finds them and uses them.

He has recruited more than 60 physician contributors and currently averages 73,000 sessions a month. In three years, the newsroom reached more than 9.9 million total and 5 million unique views. The online newsroom covers trending topics, interesting tidbits, fresh parenting tips and the latest medical advice from the experts at Cook Children’s. He informs parents and the community, while reaching a national and international audience that is now on the media’s radar when it needs a news story.
