Dr. Jeanette Hasse has worked in the critical care nutrition field for over 25 years and has worked full-time with organ transplant patients since 1986. She has been involved in transplant-related research and development of transplant nutrition care protocols that have been adopted throughout the transplant community. Dr. Hasse’s focus has been on the evaluation of the effect of nutrition on transplant outcomes, the development of nutrition support protocols for pre- and posttransplant patients, and the education of patients and their families to improve long-term posttransplant outcomes. Dr. Hasse has given numerous professional presentations and has many publications on various aspects of nutrition and transplantation. She continues to provide direct patient care as well as manage a staff of transplant dietitians and has been a preceptor for dietetic interns for over 25 years.

Dr. Hasse has been Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Nutrition in Clinical Practice since 2003. Dr. Hasse is also co-editor of Comprehensive Guide to Transplant Nutrition, the only book devoted to transplant nutrition, and past editor of Support Line, a publication of Dietitians in Nutrition Support (DNS). She is the recipient of the 2004 American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.) Distinguished Nutrition Support Dietitian Award, the 2003 DNS Distinguished Service Award, the 1998 American Dietetic Association Foundation Award for Excellence in Clinical Nutrition, and the 1994 A.S.P.E.N. Dietitian Research Award. Dr. Hasse received her B.S. degree in Nutrition at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and received her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Nutrition at Texas Woman's University.
