Janet Balke PhD, MBA, MHA, RN

Balke received her BSN (1981) from the University of Kansas, her MBA and MHA from the University of Houston (1999), and her PhD from Capella University (2006). Balke's dissertation topic was "Nurse Executives: A Grounded Theory Study of Dynamic Competencies.” She has practised nursing in a variety of settings, including surgical/trauma ICU, oncology, home health, and hospice. Her roles include staff nurse, unit manager, and administrator. She has been a health care consultant since 1994, focusing on nursing and health care executive competencies, strategic business development, and related topics. She serves on the board of a large medical practice foundation in Houston, Texas.
