Jane Malan Kao MD, FAHA, FACC, FAAP

Dr. Jane M. Kao has been practicing in Dallas for 23 years. She completed her residency training in Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital and her fellowship training in Pediatric Cardiology at UCLA College of Medicine. Dr. Kao is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the sub-board of Pediatric Cardiology. She has special expertise in pediatric echocardiography and fetal echocardiography. In the Dallas area, she was the first pediatric cardiologist to perform fetal echocardiography in the private setting. This imaging modality has significantly improved the survival of infants and newborns undergoing congenital heart surgery. She also has extensive experience in the evaluation of heart murmurs, chest pain, rhythm disorders, syncope, hypertension, and lipid disorders.

Dr. Kao has been consistently voted by her peers as one of the best pediatric cardiologists in D Magazine every year since 2002. She has also been selected to the Texas Super Doctors list which is listed in Texas Monthly every year since 2003. She is a member of the American Heart Association and has been a narrator in several of their education videos on congenital heart disease and sudden cardiac death in athletes. She is also a member of the American Society of Echocardiography and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Kao is the medical director of the pediatric echocardiography laboratory at Medical City Children’s Hospital and is also the medical director of Pediatric Outreach. Dr. Kao serves on the Pediatric Advisory Board at Medical City Children’s Hospital and a member of their Pediatric Quality Improvement or Peer Review Committee.
