James Wilson-MacDonald is a consultant orthopaedic and trauma surgeon with current appointments at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre NHS Trust and the Oxford Radcliffe Trust. The majority of his work is in spinal surgery but he also carries out hip replacement surgery.

He graduated from Bristol University in 1978, and completed his MD thesis in bone growth and remodelling in 1988. Using this expertise he is developing new methods of treatment for scoliosis and low back pain.

Mr Wilson-MacDonald is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association and the British Medical Associations. He is also a member of the British Cervical Spine Society, the British Scoliosis Society and the British Association of Spinal Surgeons, and has been on the committees of all three societies in the past. In addition he has worked as an assessor for the General Medical Council and the Royal College of Surgeons
