Jim O’Brien has more than 25 years of experience as a medical and health physicist. His professional practice includes: MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, PET, mammography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, and diagnostic x-ray. He provides consulting services including implementation of Imaging Quality Management programs, CT protocol development and data analysis, and design support for Radiation Dose databases. His experience in IT and software development with companies like BellSouth International also helps his healthcare clients with DICOM and PACS issues. He began his career as an Officer in the US Air Force where he held positions as the Chief of the USAF Radiation Calibration facility; Lab Manager for the USAF radio-analytical laboratory, and Senior Team Member of the USAF nuclear weapons accident response team. His work with the Department of Energy encompassed procedure development, calibration laboratory operations, and the development data models for Los Alamos National Laboratory for bioassay results. Jim is a member of the American College of Radiology, American Association of Physicists in Medicine, Health Physics Society, and Project Management Institute. As a graduate of Auburn and Emory University, Jim earned a BS in Pre Med Physics and a Master of Medical Science in Radiation Physics.
