James Augustine, MD, FACEP, is the National Director of Prehospital Strategy for USACS. A board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and a fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians, Dr. Augustine was most recently Chair of the National Clinical Governance Board. He recently completed his term on the Board of Directors of the American College of Emergency Physicians and has been a member of national groups overseeing emergency medical services, emergency service quality improvement, benchmarking and best practices, and disaster preparation.

Dr. Augustine earned his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University, where he graduated cum laude and his medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine. He performed an integrated residency in emergency medicine at Wright State University School of Medicine. He continues to serve as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Wright State University.

Dr. Augustine served with The Joint Commission, sitting on its board of commissioners, and as the chair of the Hospital Professional Technical Advisory Committee. He is the vice president of the ED Benchmarking Alliance.
