Eric Schmitt MD, PhD is an assistant professor of Radiology and Psychiatry in the division of Neuroradiology. He practices clinical radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and Pennsylvania Hospital. He graduated from Stanford with a double major in biological sciences and psychology and earned both his MD and PhD from the Medical College of Virginia. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Yale and residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed both neuroradiology and imaging informatics fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania.

His research interests primarily center on the interface between neuroimaging and genetics, particularly relating to neurodevelopment and psychopathology. Current projects include investigations into genetics of typical brain structure, the functional neuroanatomy of the 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, and longitudinal statistical genetic modeling of pediatric neurodevelopment.
