James Nunley, MD has been practicing orthopaedic surgery at Duke for the last 38 years. His practice is currently limited to adults with foot and ankle conditions. Dr. Nunley has special interests in athletic foot and ankle problems and ankle arthritis, replacement surgery. His foot and ankle team has grown over the years and is now one of the largest team of experts in the United States having performed more than 17,000 surgeries.

Dr. Nunley completed his Medical Degree at Tulane University School of Medicine in 1973. He completed a residency in General Surgery at the UCLA Medical Center from 1973-1975. Dr. Nunley also completed a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center from 1975-1979 and a fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at Duke University Medical Center from 1979-1980. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Orthopaedics.
