Irene Sonu MD

Dr. Irene Sonu, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist specializing in neurogastroenterology and gastrointestinal motility disorders. She is dedicated to helping patients improve their digestive health through compassionate, evidence-based care and personalized treatment plans tailored to their unique needs. Dr. Sonu earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) before completing her medical degree at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.

She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford Health Care and is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She currently serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stanford University.
