Irene Cetin MD

Irene Cetin is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Milano, Italy since 2002. She is Head of the Department of Mother and Child of the Luigi Sacco University Hospital in Milano. Since 2007 she is the Director of the Center for Fetal Research of the University of Milano. She received her Medical Degree in 1983 at the University of Milano and the Board in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1987. In 1989 she completed a Fellowship in Perinatal Medicine at the University of Colorado, US.

Irene Cetin is an expert in maternal and fetal physiology and in pathologies of pregnancies. Her scientific activity has developed around the study of the interaction between maternal and fetal characteristics. She has particularly addressed the specific phenotype associated with abnormal pregnancies, in conditions of maternal diseases like preeclampsia, IUGR and diabetes. Her expertise spans from experimental to translational and clinical studies.
