Dr. Horst Neuhaus received his license to practice medicine at the University of Bonn in 1979. After years as an assistant doctor in various departments for internal medicine, surgery and radiology, he became senior physician in 1987 as an internist and gastroenterologist at the second medical clinic and head of the department for endoscopy at the Klinikum Rechts der Isar of the Technical University of Munich. In 1992 Neuhaus habilitated and in 1999 he was appointed adjunct professor at the medical faculty. Since 1995, Prof. Neuhaus has been chief physician at the medical clinic at the Evangelical Hospital in Düsseldorf. Under his management, a team of more than 50 doctors and experienced nursing staff treats more than 7,000 inpatients and more than 15,000 outpatients with a wide range of internal diseases every year.

The clinical scientific interest of Prof. Neuhaus applies to the detection and therapy, especially early stages of various forms of cancer of the digestive tract, diseases of the bile ducts and pancreas as well as diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. When conducting various studies, there is close cooperation with other German centers and clinics in Europe, the USA and Japan. The results are regularly presented at national and international specialist conferences and published in specialist journals.

Prof. Neuhaus is a member of the advisory board or the board of several professional societies such as the German Society for Digestive and Metabolic Diseases (DGVS) and the German Society for Endoscopy and Imaging Procedures (DGE-BV). He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the United European Gastroenterology Foundation (UEGF) and Past President of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE).
