Dr. Han Naung Tun is a distinguished physician and researcher with an impressive career in both internal medicine and cardiology. After earning his MBBS degree from Yangon, Myanmar in 2013, he pursued postgraduate medicine and general cardiology training. He completed his medical training and general cardiology training in 2016. He then went on to work as a clinical doctor with Médecins Sans Frontiers (Holland) and as a technical support coordinator for HIV/TB and tropical medicine in USAID’s PEPFAR project for the Upper Myanmar region during 2013-2014. He is also a fellow of the Australasian College of Tropical Medicine (FACTM) and a faculty fellow of travel medicine (F.FTM) in ACTM.  


Dr. Han Naung Tun’s passion for cardiology led him to pursue further training in Switzerland, where he earned general and advanced cardiology postgraduate training at the University of Zurich and Zurich Heart House (ZHH). He became an international associate of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and a member of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) in 2015. He is currently a researcher and clinician in ESC working groups, with research interests in heart failure, cardiac imaging, and preventive cardiology. Dr. Han Naung Tun’s outstanding contributions to cardiology research and practice have been recognized by various professional bodies. He was honored with his interventional cardiologist group at the American Heart Association Vascular Discovery Scientific Sessions in 2019, and he is the first clinical doctor from Myanmar to attend the Cardiology update conference in Davos, Switzerland, as mentioned in the European Heart Journal. In 2021, he was elected as a fellow of both the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) for his contributions to the field. In addition to his clinical work, he has authored and co-authored over 40 scientific publications and mentored a number of postgraduate and master students.
