Greg Armstrong MD, MSCE, joined the Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control at SJCRH in 2006 where he is the Principal Investigator for the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study (CCSS). The CCSS is a multi-institutional, collaborative project initiated in 1994, which has successfully established and followed a cohort of 14,370 five-year survivors of childhood cancer diagnosed between1970-1986 and a population of sibling controls. The cohort, derived through 26 original participating clinical centers, has collected detailed information on cancer diagnosis, therapy received, and outcomes encompassing over 248,000 person-years of follow-up. Under the leadership of Dr. Armstrong and Dr. Les Robison, the founding CCSS Principal Investigator, the CCSS has expanded its cohort to include an additional population of patients diagnosed between1987-1999.

In addition to maintaining a clinical practice in both pediatric neuro-oncology and pediatric cancer survivor care, Dr. Armstrong holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
