OVERVIEW

Fourth State of the Science Cancer Survivorship Research Symposium is organized by The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the conference would be held on Feb 4, 2016 at Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Conference Center – Floor 8, Dan L. Duncan Building (CPB) - Houston, TX.

The goal of the symposium is to increase awareness of an emerging sub-specialty in oncology –survivorship care of post-treatment cancer patients.

Educational Objectives

After attending the symposium, participants should be able to

• Provide trends, opportunities, or challenges posed by survivorship science to improve outcomes of long-term cancer survivors (Knowledge, Competence)
• Assimilate and translate new research findings to improve providers practice and survivors quality of life (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes);
• Extend knowledge and competence of providers and researchers in advancing cancer survivorship research (Knowledge, Competence, Patient Outcomes)
• Demonstrate appropriate multidisciplinary collaboration for research studies that will ensure delivery of evidence based practice and care for cancer survivors (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes)
• Identify directions for future research to promote safe and high quality survivorship care related to late effects, psychsocial function, surveillance, and prevention (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes).
