Giovanni B. Torsello MD, PhD

Dr. Giovanni Torsello, Director of the Institute for Vascular Research at St. Francis Hospital, received the Jean Kunlin Medal. With this, the professional society recognizes his outstanding work in the development and promotion of vascular surgery and vascular medicine and honors his special services to the subject and the professional society.

The DDG eV awards the Jean Kunlin Medal at irregular intervals to physicians and personalities who are particularly involved in vascular medicine. Jean Kunlin was one of the most important pioneers in this field. The Frenchman performed the first vein bypass operation in 1948, an operation that is now part of routine vascular surgery.
