Gerard A. Baltazar DO, FACOS, FACS, OMT

Dr. Gerard A. Baltazar, DO, FACOS, FACS, OMT, earned a medical degree from Touro University California, where he developed expertise in evidence-based care while embracing holistic wellness and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT). He emerged as a leader in OMT, earning multiple academic honors.

He completed a rigorous general surgery residency through a Weill Cornell Medicine and New York Institute of Technology partnership, gaining experience across diverse clinical environments, including Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, and New York-Presbyterian Hospital. During this time, he became known for excellence in scientific education, public speaking, and medical research.

Dr. Baltazar pursued a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at Rutgers University Hospital, where he refined advanced care for critically ill patients and deepened his focus on healing injury and organizational growth. He graduated with the national Oriens Award from the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma.

He has since served as Director of Surgical Critical Care at SBH Health System in the Bronx and Medical Unit Director and Medical Director of the Comprehensive Transfer Center at NYU Langone Health, where he also served as Wellness Ambassador and founded the first-of-its-kind OMT for Trauma Program and New York’s first Chest Wall Injury Society Collaborative Center.

Dr. Baltazar is an Associate Professor of Surgery, a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and triple board-certified, including in OMT. He has received numerous healthcare awards, most recently the DAISY Award for compassionate care and the Medical Educator of the Year Award from the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society.
