Gerald A. Maccioli, M.D., M.B.A., F.C.C.M. serves as Chief Quality Officer. Dr. Maccioli joined Sheridan Healthcare, Inc. in 2015. Dr. Maccioli practiced anesthesiology and critical care medicine for over 27 years. Prior to joining Sheridan Healthcare, Dr. Maccioli served as Director of the American Society of Anesthesiologists for North Carolina, President of the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists, and Chair of the ASA Section on Education and Research.
In addition he has served as the Chair of the American Medical Association (AMA) Committee of Innovators, playing an influential role in developing comprehensive, progressively responsible healthcare reform strategies. Within the AMA, Dr. Maccioli continues to serve as a member of the Quality Improvement Advisory Committee and the Committee on Practice Sustainability and Professional Satisfaction.
He completed fellowship training in cardiothoracic anesthesiology and critical care medicine at Duke University following a residency in anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an internal medicine internship at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Maccioli has contributed and written over 50 clinical papers, abstracts, editorials, and book chapters. He has served as an invited speaker at over 70 state and national meetings on diverse topics such as resuscitation, the practice of critical care medicine, public policy, payment reform, and quality improvement. Dr. Maccioli continued his education at Auburn University’s, Raymond J. Harbert College Of Business, earning a Masters in Business Administration in 2016.
