Dr. Sinicrope was appointed a Clinical Investigator of the Mayo Foundation and has co-led the Gastrointestinal Cancer Research Program at the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. His clinical and research interests are in gastrointestinal cancers especially colorectal cancer including young-onset disease and hereditary cancer syndromes, personalized therapies including immunotherapy, and predictive and prognostic biomarkers.

Dr. Sinicrope's translational research focuses on molecular subtyping of colorectal cancer using genomic technologies, and profiling of the tumor immune microenvironment in relation to prognosis and response to therapy. He developed and is conducting the first adjuvant immunotherapy phase 3 trial in patients with colon cancers with MSI-H within the Alliance cooperative group. His laboratory work includes the study of defective/altered apoptotic signaling as a mechanism of drug resistance. In addition, Dr. Sinicrope is a member of the Mayo Clinic Center for Cell Signaling in Gastroenterology, a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Mayo Clinic SPORE (Specialized Program of Research Excellence) in Pancreatic Cancer at the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center, a member of the NCI Colon Cancer Task Force and served two terms on the NCI GI Cancer Steering Committee. Within the Alliance, he is vice-chair of the Prevention Committee and a member of the GI Committee, Immunotherapy Committee, and Translational Research Program Executive Committee.

Among his awards and honors are being appointed a Clinical Investigator of the Mayo Foundation, a past recipient of a Clinical Oncology Career Development Award from the American Cancer Society, and a Kadoorie Human Cancer Genetics Award from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Sinicrope has authored or co-authored numerous articles in such prestigious scientific journals as The New England Journal of Medicine, Cancer Discovery, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Journal of the National Cancer Institute, Annals of Oncology, and Clinical Cancer Research.
