Dr. Francisco C. Carnevale is Graduated in Medicine since 1990 from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Mogi das Cruzes. His academic background includes Medical Residency in General Surgery, Experimental Surgery and Liver Transplantation by the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (USP). National and international reference in Interventional Radiology, Angioradiology and Endovascular Surgery.

During the years 1995-1997, he took several specialization courses (Research and Clinical Fellow) in renowned institutions in the United States and Europe. He obtained the titles of Doctor of Sciences (1999) and of Free Professor (2014), both from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo (FMUSP). Prof. Carnevale is responsible for the undergraduate and graduate courses in the area of ​​Interventional Radiology at FMUSP.

He held the position of president of the Brazilian Society of Interventional Radiology and Endovascular Surgery (SoBRICE) in the 2009-2010 Management. He is the author of more than 100 scientific articles published in high-impact journals and more than 50 book chapters. His scientific career is also notable for having integrated more than a dozen master's and doctoral examining boards and for organizing several scientific events in the area.

Due to his pioneering experimental work developed at Harvard University (Boston – USA) and clinical study at the Hospital das Clínicas da Universidade de São Paulo (HC-FMUSP), his main line of research is currently focused on the treatment of patients with lower urinary tract associated with prostate growth by Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).

He developed and published, for the first time in the world scientific literature, the technique of Prostate Artery Embolization (EAP) for patients with urinary obstructive symptoms within the Hospital das Clínicas of FMUSP under the supervision of Professors Miguel Srougi and Giovanni Guido Cerri. As a result of this unprecedented work, Prof. Carnevale organizes and delivers training courses on the EAP technique in Brazil, Europe and the United States.

He also works as a professor and advisor within the Hospital das Clínicas of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo, having been responsible for the training of more than 50 Specialists in Interventional Radiology spread throughout Brazil.
