Erin Alexandra Zerbo MD

Dr. Erin Zerbo, MD, received her B.S. in Brain and Cognitive Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2003, and her M.D. from New York University School of Medicine in 2007. She remained at NYU for a general psychiatry residency and a one-year addiction psychiatry fellowship, graduating in 2012. Since 2014, she has been an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and the Associate Director of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry. She currently has a large outpatient buprenorphine practice and spends half of her time on the Psychiatry Consultation-Liaison Service at University Hospital.

Dr. Zerbo serves as the Vice President of the New Jersey Psychiatric Association, and she has lectured and published extensively in the field of addiction. Her primary interest is the treatment of substance use disorders in underserved and disadvantaged populations. She is a co-editor of the recent book "Pocket Guide to Addiction Assessment and Treatment" (APA, 2106), and the lead editor of "Becoming Mindful: Integrating Mindfulness into Your Psychiatric Practice" (APA, 2017).
