Eric Y. Chang is a Staff Physician at the VA San Diego Healthcare System and Professor of Radiology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Medical Center. He completed his undergraduate and medical studies at Cornell University and New York University School of Medicine, respectively. He completed his residency and musculoskeletal radiology fellowship at UCSD, where he was also Chief Resident.

Dr. Chang’s research lab focuses on imaging techniques to assess the microstructure, composition, and chemical environment of neuromusculoskeletal tissues, particularly using MRI and US. He has authored over 200 peer-reviewed publications and was bestowed the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) award in 2017, which is the highest honor given by the US Government to science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.

He is an active member of numerous societies, including the ACR where he serves as the Specialty Chair on the Appropriateness Criteria Musculoskeletal Imaging section and IPSG where he serves as a member of the Imaging Working Group. He is also the Director of the San Diego VA/VMRF Microimaging Core which provides pre-clinical imaging services to the regional research community, including histology, electron microscopy, and in vivo optical, US, CT and MR imaging.
