Dr. Elias Casula is a post-doc researcher at the Neuropsychophysiology Laboratory, led by Prof. Giacomo Koch, at the Santa Lucia Foundation, IRCCS, Rome, Italy. His research is mainly focused on the investigation of neurophysiological markers of neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Casula has long-lasting technical expertise in the combination of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques with electroencephalography. Using this novel approach, he developed several different methodologies to investigate brain dynamics - in terms of cortical excitability, connectivity, and plasticity – in several disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and stroke. In the last ten years, he has collaborated with different institutes (the University of Padua, University of Ulm, University College London, La Sapienza University of Rome) and in different laboratories headed by experts in the field of TMS and EEG.

In the last six years, he has also been an adjunct professor at the University of Padua. Finally, in 2019, Dr. Casula won a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship at the University College London (supervisor: John Rothwell).
