Dr Edward Gaynor is a Consultant Paediatric Gastroenterologist, having practiced as a consultant since 2018. He graduated from Oxford University, completing his postgraduate training in some of the largest centres in Britain, such as Oxford, Barts Health, and King’s College London, before moving to Great Ormond Street Hospital in 2019. He is a specialist in paediatric gastroenterology – with interests in all areas of digestive health, including poor growth, gastro-oesophageal reflux, constipation, and abdominal pain. His special interests are in inflammatory and autoimmune bowel diseases and gastrointestinal allergy, in which he is the clinical lead at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Outside of clinical medicine, he is an advocate for national improvements in health care.
He has been the NHS’s National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow in 2016-17, and is now using these skills in leading the benchmarking national framework for Quality Standards in Paediatric Gastroenterology within the UK. He is a member and active within both the British and European Paediatric Gastroenterology Medical Societies (BSPHAN & ESPGHAN). He believes strongly in being a clinician who brings the best applied research to his patients. In 2021, he is the principal investigator for two studies in paediatric IBD.
