Dr. Stiles graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1965. He practiced general medicine throughout the Northeast and Mid-West through the 1990s, while achieving numerous distinctions during this time. In 1970 Dr. Stiles was among only 6 DOs selected to participate in an MET tutorial conducted by Fred Mitchell, DO. In 1973, Dr. Stiles established the first hospital based OMT service in the country at Waterville Osteopathic Hospi-tal.

He later served as the hospital direc-tor until 1978. Dr. Stiles developed the first 5 level OMT coding system in conjunction with Medicare, which is used by the current CPT coding system. Dr. Stiles continues to travel around the country teaching small group seminars on various OMT approaches such at Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), Functional/Laughlin-Still, Cranial - Sacral, Strain-Counterstrain, and High Velocity/Low Am-plitude (HVLA).
