Donna Appell is the Founder and President of the Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome Network Inc. Prior to that Ms Appell graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BSN and was employed by St. Francis Hospital for 22 years as an RN in the Open Heart Intensive Care Unit. In June 2002, Mrs. Appell was appointed to the American Thoracic Society’s (ATS) Public Advisory Roundtable. As such she received The Public Service Award, in recognition of service in public health, in the area of lung-related health issues, in May 2003. In May 2007, she was appointed to Chairperson of the Public Advisory Roundtable of the ATS at the International Conference in San Francisco. Ms. Appell is on the Board of Directors and is the Education Coordinator for Reach Out for Youth with Ileitis and Colitis, and is a Director and Scientific Advisor for the National Organization of Albinism and Hypopigmentation.
