Dr. Stillwagon grew up in the rural countryside of southwestern Pennsylvania, near the West Virginia/Maryland border, attending the five-classrooms-for-eight-grades schoolhouse in that small coal-mining and dairy-farming community. Dr. Stillwagon knew early on that he wanted to be a doctor. (He was always sick with ear infections.) But he never thought that to be a realistic possibility until his family moved to New Jersey and he received a scholarship to attend both Rutgers University and the State University of New York Downstate Medical School in Brooklyn. After a year of study at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver, Dr. Stillwagon did his Family Practice Residency at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine.

Dr. Stillwagon always knew that he wanted to teach, and was in a very successful Family Practice in Orono, Maine before becoming an associate director of the Family Practice Residency program in Barberton, Ohio. Soon thereafter, The Woodlands became the Stillwagon’s hometown when Dr. Stillwagon was recruited by the University of Texas to become the program director of the Family Practice Residency Program in Conroe, Texas. In 1985, Dr. Stillwagon founded the Panther Creek Medical Center, which eventually became The Village Medical Centers today.

Dr. Stillwagon is happily married. He and his wife are the proud parents of two sons and a daughter. They are also the doting grandparents of five wonderful grandchildren. Throughout the years, Dr. Stillwagon has enjoyed skiing, hiking, and biking, particularly in the mountains of Colorado. He also enjoys the theatre, music, reading, and cooking. After attending the National Wine-Makers Conference in Upstate New York, he developed another tasty hobby! Whining !!.
