Dirk J. Schaefer MD, PhD

Dirk J. Schaefer, MD, is Full Professor and Chief of the Division of Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic and Hand Surgery at the University Hospital Basel, was born in 1963 in Bonn. Schaefers primary research interest lies in the production of vascularized bone tissue from stem cells by tissue engineering and in the field of microsurgery in Plastic and Hand Surgery. He is currently a member of the Board of Swiss Society for Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (SGPRAC) as well as of the Deutschsprachige Arbeitsgemeinschaft fur Mikrochirurgie der Peripheren Nerven- und Gefasse (DAM).
