Diptendra Kumar Sarkar MBBS, MS, DNB, FRCS

Dr. Diptendra Kumar Sarkar, MBBS, MS, DNB, FRCS is a Professor at the IPGME&R and SSKM Hospital. Dr. Diptendra Sarkar is a Consultant Surgeon, Surgical Oncologist, and Breast and endocrine surgeon. He was a University topper in the MBBS exam and received a Gold medal. Subsequently, he completed his MS and was awarded a Gold medal for securing the highest position. He received B Rammurthi Award in Surgery from the National Board of Examinations being the all-India topper in Surgery. He is probably the only Indian to top the prestigious FRCS exam in the world and was honored by the Royal College with the coveted GB Ong award. 

His major work on locally advanced breast cancer oncoplastic surgery of breast research on the molecular biology of breast cancer has received various international recognition. He also has expertise in minimal access surgery which includes advanced cancer surgery like colonic and rectal surgery and gastronomic cancer surgery and other laparoscopic surgeries. He was an honorable member of the governing council of the Association of Surgeons of India between 2012 and 2019.
