Dr. David O. Parrish, M.D., FAAFP, has contributed as faculty in the residency program and also served as director of the family medicine residency program from 2001 to 2016. He continues to serve as an associate director. Dr. Parrish received his medical degree from the University of Alabama Medical School in Birmingham, AL, and then spent three years in the family medicine residency program at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Pensacola, FL.

Dr. Parrish was a U.S. navy family physician for two years at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and later served as the director of residency training at the Naval Hospital in Charleston, SC. After leaving active duty to come to Bayfront, he affiliated with the United States Naval Reserve for many years and retired at the rank of Navy Captain. He has served on multiple boards and committees locally and nationally including the Pinellas County Medical Association, Florida Academy of Family Physicians and Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors. He served two terms as Chief of the Medical Staff at Bayfront Health-St. Petersburg. Dr. Parrish holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in sports medicine.
