David M. Axelrod MD

Dr. David Axelrod is both an accomplished physician at Stanford and a skilled entrepreneur with Lighthaus Inc. As a pediatric cardiologist/critical care physician at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital Stanford, he specializes in the care of children with critical acquired and congenital cardiac disease. He provides care to the most acute and complex population of patients in the cardiac ICU, has extensive research in research study design and implementation, and excels in educating and training students at Stanford's School of Medicine and beyond.

As the Lead Medical Advisor at Lighthaus, he works to create interactive VR experiences that pioneer first-class scientific virtual environments in healthcare, science, and education. Collaborating with Lighthaus, he co-created The Stanford Virtual Heart, a virtual reality congenital heart disease experience, and the VR-Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation experience built with the American Heart Association.
