David Anthony Bitonti DMD, CAPT, DC, USN

David Anthony Bitonti, DMD serves as Chief of Staff for Integration at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. While aboard USS Holland, Capt. Bitonti was the first dental officer in the Navy to qualify as a Surface Warfare Officer while a dental officer. Capt. Bitonti transferred to Naval Hospital Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina in July 1988 and served as the hospital's General Dentist and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery/Dental Department Division Officer. In June 1986, he was transferred to the USS Holland home-ported at the Naval Weapons Station, Goose Creek, South Carolina.

He served as an assistant dental officer and subsequently as the Division Officer for the ship's Dental Department. His first duty assignment was at Naval Dental Center Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Navy Dental Corps. He graduated from Saint Vincent College with a bachelor of arts in chemistry in 1981 and then received a doctor of dental medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 1985.
