Daniel Spaite MD, FACEP

Dr. Daniel W. Spaite, M.D., FACEP, is a distinguished emergency medicine physician and academic leader at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson, where he serves as Professor of Emergency Medicine, Member of the Graduate Faculty, and Virginia Piper Distinguished Research Chair of Emergency Medicine. He is also Associate Director of the Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center (AEMRC) and a core faculty member of the Emergency Medical Services Program. Dr. Spaite earned his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis and completed his internship and residency training in internal medicine and emergency medicine at UCLA. He is board‑certified in emergency medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP).

An internationally recognized expert in emergency medical services (EMS) and prehospital care, Dr. Spaite has published over 100 scientific articles and has led major research efforts related to EMS systems, trauma care, cardiac arrest, and outcomes research. He has received prominent distinctions, including the Ronald D. Stewart Career Award from the National Association of EMS Physicians, the organization’s highest honor for contributions to prehospital care. In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Spaite has held leadership positions in regional and national EMS organizations, served as an EMS medical director for fire and air medical programs, and contributed to the development of EMS guidelines and research agendas.
